Women’s History Month Spotlight: Shernae Earls

Shernae Earls, born in Norfolk, Virginia, is the daughter of Cassini Jordan and Stanley Earls. From their union, Shernae and her older brother, Deonte, were born. She is also the proud granddaughter of Lillie Barnes and Bruce “Fats” Barnes, and the great-granddaughter of Lee Harvey Barnes and Ella Barrow Barnes. Raised in a family rich in creativity and tradition, Shernae’s passions were shaped early on—watching her grandmother sew and thoughtfully mix pieces sparked her love for fashion, while hearing stories of her late grandfather watching her mother sing, along with singing in the choir herself, nurtured her deep appreciation for music.

Now based in the Hampton Roads area, Shernae is an accomplished banking professional, entrepreneur, and woman of faith. She currently serves as an Assistant Vice President and Supervisor at TowneBank, where she has earned two promotions within a year in the auditing department. A testament to her leadership, work ethic, and commitment to excellence.

A proud graduate of Old Dominion University, Shernae holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication with a minor in Fashion Merchandising. She is passionate about creating a life that allows her to nurture her God-given gifts across different seasons, blending her corporate success with her creative pursuits.

In the fashion industry, Shernae has attended New York Fashion Week and participated in various fashion events along the East Coast. In 2017, she launched her brand, The Fashionistah, which she considers both a business and a ministry—empowering women to look and feel their best. As she continues to evolve as a businesswoman, she is currently rebranding to reflect her growth and vision.

Beyond her professional and entrepreneurial work, Shernae enjoys public speaking and has participated in panels ranging from discussions on fashion to conversations centered on being a young woman serving God. She is also deeply passionate about pouring into others, finding joy in her role as both a mentor and a devoted aunt.

That same year, she became a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, further deepening her commitment to service and sisterhood.

In late 2025, Shernae embraced her most cherished role—motherhood—welcoming her healthy and energetic son, Kodah. She resides in the Hampton Roads area with her fiancé, Kamal, and their son, where she continues to build a life rooted in purpose, love, and legacy.

“She is a reflection of the women who came before her, a vessel of purpose in the present, and a blueprint of possibility for the generations to come.”
