Throughout June, we’ll be highlighting the men and boys whose stories, milestones, and presence continue to leave a mark on our family and community.


Howard Earl LeMelle

Howard Earl LeMelle, a real Texas cowboy, came to Virginia about 61 years ago through the military. There he met his queen, Lillian LeMelle, and has been married to her for 59 years next month.

He is a devoted father of three children, Michael, Howard II, and Natasha. He has six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, with another one due within the next month.

Cowboy, as he prefers to be called, attended Norfolk State University and Old Dominion University, where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Electricity. He is the president and owner of Quality Services Electrical Services.

Cowboy is a devoted ordained minister at Bryant Baptist Church who has a big, jovial personality. He loves people and loves to preach, teach, sing, and play the harmonica. He also loves to share his testimony about how God saved him.

He is a member of the Male Chorus at his church. He recently started a Bible study called “Hell Firefighters,” which is an open forum study. He is also a member of Brother’s Keeper of Franklin, Virginia.

No one is a stranger to Cowboy.

He is also a member of Bare Quarter’s Horse Rider’s Group of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Cowboy is such a lovable person. His family praises him for his many talents and gifts that God has blessed him with.

Family: We love you, dear husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, musician, singer, Reverend, and friend.
