Women’s History Month Family Spotlight: Eva Margaret Rice

We are so pleased to highlight Eva Margaret Rice, a young woman whose determination, creativity, and commitment to personal growth reflect the strength and resilience that continue to shape the next generation of our family.

Eva was born in Silver Spring, Maryland. She is the daughter of Becky Anne Rice and Marvin Jerome Rice. Eva is the granddaughter of Margaret Ann (Blowe) Powell and William Henry Powell, and she carries forward the family lineage as the great-granddaughter of Richard Amos Blow and Sarah Mariah Wynn Blow.

Eva graduated from Charles Herbert Flowers High School in Springdale, Maryland in May 2020. She continued her education at Old Dominion University and University of Maryland Global Campus, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Cybersecurity Management and Policy in December 2025. Her academic focus reflects a commitment to developing skills in a field that is increasingly vital in today’s digital world.

At present, Eva is actively pursuing professional opportunities in her field while also working as a delivery driver. She approaches this season of her life with determination and perseverance as she continues building her career.

Eva is one of four siblings and shares a close bond with her brothers and sisters Kara Rice, Jayden Rice, and Robert Rice.

Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Eva has a strong creative side. She enjoys video editing, writing, drawing, and photography, and has a particular passion for cinematography. In her free time, she enjoys going to the movies, dining out, and exploring different forms of entertainment and storytelling.

Those closest to Eva describe her as kind, hardworking, resilient, and reliable, while her friends see her as funny, compassionate, and a natural problem solver. Her coworkers describe her as dedicated and driven, qualities that continue to guide her as she works toward her future goals.

Eva lives by the value of leaving a positive imprint on her own life and on the lives of those around her. When asked what advice she would offer to the next generation of the Barnes-Blow family, she shared this thoughtful reminder:

“Never lose yourself to gain something ‘better’. It’s never worth it.”
